About Casale della Ioria

Casale della Ioria, a historic estate in Lazio’s Ciociaria region, has been a steward of the Cesanese grape for over a century. Under Paolo Perinelli’s leadership, the winery gained renown for reviving this native varietal, blending family tradition with a forward-thinking approach. Perinelli’s dedication to quality and innovation elevated the estate to a leading voice in the Cesanese del Piglio DOCG, earning accolades and international recognition for its authentic, terroir-driven wines.

Vineyard Location
Situated in the Ernici mountains, Casale della Ioria’s vineyards span 38 hectares across Anagni, Acuto, and Piglio, at elevations up to 335 meters. The volcanic soils, rich in minerals, and the region’s unique microclimate—marked by cool nights and warm days—create ideal conditions for Cesanese d’Affile, yielding grapes with vibrant acidity and concentrated flavors.

Winemaking Techniques
The estate employs organic practices, using native yeasts and minimal intervention to preserve the grape’s character. Hand-harvested grapes undergo careful sorting, followed by stainless steel fermentation to retain freshness. For their flagship Torre del Piano, small French oak barriques are used for aging—a technique pioneered by Perinelli—enhancing structure while maintaining elegance. Extended bottle aging ensures refined, harmonious wines that reflect the Ciociaria terroir.
